PC Biome is focused on developing functional foods and feeds that improve health by harnessing the power of the microbiome and supported by a solid research platform. We specialize in creating innovative ingredients, foods and drinks that support a healthy gut microbiome and focus on value adding to existent products and by-products from primary production and the food chain.
One of our products is a probiotic oat drink, made by fermenting oats and honey, using one of our many in-house probiotic bacteria. The probiotic bacterium used in our oats product is proven to survive the journey through the gut, where it helps to fight harmful bacteria and keep the digestive system healthy and balanced. The probiotic fermented oat drink is available both as a ready-to-drink beverage and in a convenient powdered form which can be used directly in a drink or used as a food ingredient.
We are committed to sustainability. We produce a novel protein by fermenting black solder fly larvae grown sustainably. This resultant fermented protein has enhanced levels of essential amino acids and has been shown to support gut health by improving the gut microbiome. The powdered form of our novel protein can easily be added to meals, offering a nutritious boost with a variety of health benefits. For example, it can be included in our 3D printed food for the elderly using our new multi-modal 3D printer which is under development. In addition, we have proven that dietary fibres sourced from fruit and other high fibre food wastes can be used to support a healthy gut microbiome.
