About the Event
2020 has been a year of severe disruption for humanity due to COVID-19 Pandemic. Humanity has been struggling to respond to the unprecedented crisis during the entire 2020. 2020 has ended with great hope and optimism. Our unique experience has motivated us to recover and rebuild a more resilient society through practicing sustainability. The transition to a Circular Economy will minimize the consumption of natural resources through waste to resource and bring the community together with a closing loop within the local community, and creating new business opportunities for entrepreneurs. Practicing a circular economy helps minimize the negative environmental impact and improve resource efficiency. It also creates enormous opportunities for upgrading current business and creating new business & industries in sectors of repair/refurbish, recycle/recovery, and services through the adoption of innovative business models and emerging technologies.
The Circular Economy Leadership & Partnership Summit (CELP) Summit provides a platform for industry leaders to share their circularity solutions, researchers to re-prioritize their R&D efforts, policymakers to provide strategic interventions to accelerate the CE transformation as well as citizens of the world to align consumption behavior towards a circular economy.
CELP Summit 2021 is co-organized by the STEAM Platform together with the Office of National Higher Education Science Research and Innovation Policy Council (NXPO) and the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP) Asia and the Pacific Office.
It will be held during the two afternoons of 17-18 March 2021 at Sivatel Bangkok
Thailand is committed to sustainable development and SDGs 2030. The government of Thailand has made a strong commitment to the Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy. In particular, the transition to a circular economy will not only recycle and recover waste back to the production system but also be driven by “circularity by design” (where a product is designed for reuse, repairs, refurbish, remanufacture, recycle and recovery (6R) where waste is minimized). This also presents an enormous opportunity for new economic development driven by innovative & scalable circular businesses. This event focuses on driving factors and business solutions for the transition to a circular economy in 4 industry sectors including agriculture & food, packaging, textile & fashion, and building & construction.
The CE transformation drivers include policy, regulation, technology, innovation, business model, and financing. The event brings together global leaders to share and inspire solutions for making a CE transition at both local, regional and global levels.
