Biography
Prior to being appointed as the Director of Research Institute of Eco-civilization, NanChang University, Dr. Lei SHI has been an Associate Professor of the School of Environment at Tsinghua University. His research interest lies in industrial ecology, focusing on industrial metabolism, industrial ecosystem complexity, and eco-innovation. He contributes to the uncovering of structural and functional complexity of industrial ecosystems from a complex network perspective. Dr. Shi also contributes to empirical studies on eco-industrial parks and circular economy models in China. He has so far led more than 30 projects and published more than 50 articles in the Journal of Industrial Ecology, Journal of Cleaner Production, PNAS, and Natural Climate Change. He was awarded the Research Frontier Award of the Chinese Society for Industrial Ecology (CSIE) in 2018. He served as the director of the Asia Office of Journal of Industrial Ecology, associate editor of the Journal of Cleaner Production, and the chair of the 10th International Conference of Industrial Ecology (ISIE2019). He contributed a chapter on Industrial Circular Manufacturing in a textbook “An Introduction to Circular Economy” published by Springer Nature in Dec. 2020.
